Ecoblue® - Water is Life

FAQs

Do I have to install any special equipment? No, Ecoblue Cubes work with your existing urinal system.

Do I continue to use cake style deodorizers? No, since Ecoblue Cubes actually eliminate the odor-causing bacteria, there is no requirement for sanitizers or deodorizers.

How is flushing controlled? Ecoblue provides a simple, inexpensive flush control kit to enable your custodial staff to flush the urinal as required.

Are Ecoblue Cubes safe for the environment? Yes! Because Ecoblue Cubes are comprised of natural living organisms, they actually help the environment. They are biodegradable and non-toxic. Eliminating harsh chemical cleaners from our waterways is an added benefit.

How do I save money using Ecoblue Cubes? Urinals using the Ecoblue Cube reduce flushing by 99%. All of those flushes that are eliminated save thousands of dollars in utility bills, as well as money normally spent on expensive toxic sanitizers, deodorizers and acid treatments.

How much water will I save with the Ecoblue Cube? To find out how much you can save, please email us to request an estimate.

How long does it take to convert over to Ecoblue Cubes? The whole conversion process takes just a few hours.

Is training provided to our janitorial staff? Yes, Ecoblue will train all of your janitorial staff at no cost to you.

Does our janitorial staff need special cleaning instructions? Daily maintenance of the Ecoblue Cube is very simple. We provide easy to follow, step by step instructions on how to maintain your urinals that are using the Ecoblue Cube. Our support team is happy to provide additional assistance if necessary.

Do we use hot or cold water with the Ecoblue Cube? Only use cold water with your Ecoblue Cube, never use hot water as it destroys the beneficial bacteria.

How long does an Ecoblue Cube last in each urinal? Cubes last around 1,000 uses which typically translates to 1 - 3 weeks depending on frequency of traffic to the urinal. The Cube is replaced when it has dissolved to 5-10% of its original size.

What is the shelf life of the Ecoblue Cubes? Cubes last for two years when the storage container is sealed and stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight.

Should we continue using chemicals and chemical disinfectants? No. Bacteria in the Cube are very sensitive to chemicals and, as such, it is important not to pour detergents, disinfectants or bleaches into the urinal as they will kill the bacteria.

Is the Ecoblue Cube suitable for all urinals? The Ecoblue Cube is compatible with 95% of urinals. Very large volumes of water sitting in urinal bowls can make it difficult to keep the Cube dry. Small volumes can be accommodated by using a screen to hold the Cube above the water. If uncertainty exists as to whether your urinals are compatible with the Cube, we ask that you email us a photograph of your urinals.

Do we need to do anything before converting to the Ecoblue Cube? In some cases, where a large amount of scale is present in the waste outlet, we recommend augering the drain before using the Cube. "The reason is because the bacteria in the Cube are so efficient at removing scale that blockages may occur after installation when large amounts of scale become dislodged at once.
